FUTURE PROJECTS & NAMING OPPORTUNITIES
Our long-term goal is a permanent home for hands-on STEM learning in Fort Bend County: a two-story, approximately 20,000-square-foot center in the Sugar Land area with four classrooms, a maker and electronics workshop, a multipurpose hall for NASA STEM Days and competitions, and a student commons.
The center will house our Summer Academy, a Community Research Center, a High School Internship Program, and Certification and Professional Development for teachers and students.
Individuals, families, companies and foundations may name the Learning Center or one of its spaces — the workshop, the hall or a classroom — in their own name, in honor of a loved one, or for their organization. Recognition is permanent and displayed on site, including a donor recognition wall.
An endowed gift is invested, and its earnings support a program every year, permanently, in the donor’s name: an Endowed Student Scholarship Fund that keeps programs free, an Endowed Robotics Team Fund, an Endowed Teacher Training Fund, and an Endowed NASA STEM Day.
We are launching our first FIRST robotics team, giving high school students a full season of designing, building and competing — with registration, parts and travel supported by sponsors.
A pilot that ships hands-on science kits, with remote instruction, to students with disabilities or special needs and students who cannot attend in person.
A paid, three-month internship pilot in which high school students complete mentored engineering projects and present their results to the community.
Mathematics and science tutoring for students, and professional development that equips teachers with hands-on, project-based and problem-based STEM teaching methods.
